Mechanical Noise

We perform analysis, design and measurement of sound generated by mechanical equipment/systems in a building and transmitted through system components and building elements to occupants.

Examples of noise sources include diesel generators, chillers, pumps, fans, air handling units, ductwork, piping, vertical transportation, and cooling towers.

Mechanical Vibration

We perform analysis, design and measurement of vibration generated by mechanical equipment/systems in a building and transmitted through the structure to occupants or vibration sensitive equipment.

Examples of vibration sources include diesel generators, chillers, pumps, fans,  cooling towers, vertical transportation, and amusement rides.

Examples of vibration sensitive equipment include electron microscopes (SEM, TEM), medical imaging equipment (MRI, CT, PET), and silicon wafer production machinery.

Room Acoustics

We perform analysis, design and measurement of the acoustic response of critical listening spaces and spaces with large volumes.

Examples include auditoria, performance venues, ball rooms, conference rooms, teleconference rooms, convention facilities, dining rooms, and nightclubs.

Outdoor Noise

We perform analysis, design and measurement of sound generated outdoors by human activity or machines that is transmitted to unintended listeners on another property or within the building.

Examples of noise sources include outdoor audio systems, aircraft, vehicular traffic, rail transportation, diesel generators, utility fans, condensing units, air cooled chillers and cooling towers.

Sound Insulation

We perform analysis, design and measurement of sound transmitted from one space to another.  This is typically a concern when the sound levels in a space are very high, when a space requires a very low noise level, or when privacy is of concern.

Examples of spaces with high sound levels include mechanical rooms, performance spaces, cinema auditoria, and nightclubs.

Examples of spaces requiring quiet are guestrooms, dwelling units, offices, teleconference rooms, and recording studios

Examples of spaces requiring privacy include offices, conference/meeting rooms, patient rooms, and SCIF rooms.
